(Clifton, N.J. – June 09, 2023) – New Jersey will be well-represented abroad in the water industry this month.
Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) Executive Director Jim Mueller has been invited to speak at the prestigious American Water Works Associations’ (AWWA) Annual Conference & Exposition (ACE) being held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada June 11 – 14, 2023. Mr. Mueller will join a six-person panel with other water company executives from the United States and Canada. The discussion will focus on Lead Service Line Replacements.
“PVWC is proud to represent New Jersey at this conference and to tell how we are continuing to improve customer health and safety by removing the lead lines from customer homes,” said Mueller. “We have been replacing lead water lines since the 1980’s, and we’re on track to remove all lead lines from our system well ahead of the state mandated July 2031 deadline.”
Topics discussed at ACE will include:
- Why Move Forward with Lead Service Line Replacements?
- Available Funding for Public Water Utilities
- Public Health and Safety Benefits
- Customer cooperation and ordinances to allow entry to homes for pipe inspections
Joining Mr. Mueller in Canada will be PVWC’s Alexandra Wells, Supervising Engineer, Javier Hendricks, Senior Engineer, John Feliciano, Senior Public Works Inspector and CJ Mills, Distribution Supervisor. Wells is an active member on several committees and will be moderating a panel for “Innovation in Practice – Taking Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to the Next Level.” Mills is Chairperson of the Licensed Operators Committee.
