(Clifton, N.J. – November 22, 2023) – Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) is pleased to announce that it has completed annual hydrant flushing for 2023, which began in April.
The purpose of this exercise is to remove accumulated sediment so that we maintain the proper flow of water, should the need for firefighting arise. The comprehensive process involved systematically flushing more than 5,000 hydrants across PVWC’s service area in the following municipalities:
- Clifton – 1,634 hydrants
- Lodi – 487 hydrants
- North Arlington – 325 hydrants
- Passaic – 693 hydrants
- Paterson – 1,973 hydrants
- Prospect Park – 68 hydrants
As public stewards of health and safety, PVWC aims to efficiently maintain and distribute a secure and sustainable supply of high-quality drinking water. “Flushing is an essential part of our maintenance program, and we appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our customers during this process,” said Executive Director Jim Mueller.
