Employment

Passaic Valley Water Commission is a municipal entity, which employs over 200 people. It has more than 80 job classifications ranging from maintenance work at the reservoirs to water treatment and laboratory facilities and pipeline installation and associated pressure regulation. The operational aspects are supported by variety of technical and professional staff, including business, engineering and legal professions.

New Jersey State Civil Service Commission

Passaic Valley Water Commission Employees are within the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Civil Service Commission which regulates employment with state, county and Local government through a merit system. Employees of Passaic Valley Water Commission are subject to rules and regulations of the New Jersey Department of Civil Service Commission.

Safety

Passaic Valley Water Commission makes every effort to provide employees with a safe place to work. PVWC monitors safety standards of Commission procedures and facilities. The Commission makes available safety films and seminars to all employees and compiles with Federal, State, and Local Safety Regulations.

In conformity with the “Worker and Community Right-to-Know Act” the Commission maintains a complete file of “Safety Material Data Sheets” on potentially hazardous substances utilized on the premises. It is available to all employees from the personnel director.
