(Clifton, N.J. – April 1, 2024) – As part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and maintain water infrastructure, fire departments in the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) service area will begin annual hydrant testing this week. This essential procedure, which takes place for approximately six weeks, ensures that fire hydrants are functioning properly should the need for firefighting arise.
During the testing period, residents may notice discolored water or temporary reductions in water pressure. PVWC assures residents that these are normal and temporary effects of the testing process.
“The annual hydrant testing is a crucial part of our commitment to public safety,” said Jim Mueller, Executive Director at PVWC. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation during this period. If residents have any concerns or notice prolonged issues after the testing period, we encourage them to contact our customer service department at 973-340-4300.”
