Passaic Valley Water Commission Urges Water Conservation Amid Heat Wave

(Clifton, N.J. – June 18, 2024) – Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) is calling on all residents and businesses to take important steps to conserve water as our region experiences an unprecedented heat wave. With temperatures soaring, the demand for water becomes greater, and it’s crucial that we all do our part to ensure a reliable water supply for everyone.

Conservation Tips

  • Limit Outdoor Water Use: Water your lawn and garden during early morning or late evening hours to minimize evaporation.
  • Fix Leaks: A dripping faucet or running toilet can waste gallons of water each day. Check and repair leaks promptly.
  • Shorten Showers: Aim to keep showers shorter and consider turning off the water while brushing teeth.
  • Full Loads Only: Run dishwashers and washing machines only when full to maximize efficiency.
  • Unauthorized Hydrant Usage: Only PVWC and fire personnel are permitted to use our hydrants. Should customers witness unauthorized hydrant usage, please contact our customer service department immediately at 973-340-4300, option #2.

PVWC is closely monitoring water levels and usage, and we are committed to ensuring the community’s needs are met during this time. PVWC appreciates the cooperation and effort of all residents and businesses in conserving water.
