In order to provide adequate fire protection to the newly constructed Marshall Street Elementary School, the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) will replace the existing water main on Paxton Street with a new main.
Work will begin with the installation of the new main and connections to the two water mains on Marshall Street. The new main will continue to be constructed on Paxton Street and all services will be transferred from the old main to the new main after the new main has successfully been pressure tested, disinfected, flushed and proven to be absent of bacteria.
Please be advised that this work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Water will temporarily be shut off on the first scheduled work day between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. All work should be completed within two weeks.
INCONVENIENCE IS TEMPORARY – IMPROVEMENT IS PERMANENT
This effort will result in some unavoidable noise, disruption of service and discoloration to the water. Customers are therefore cautioned to determine if the water is clear before washing clothes (or any other processing) as staining may occur. In addition, please be cautious when walking, driving and parking along Paxton Street – the contractor will try to minimize the disruptions to the extent practical. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
