Employment
Passaic Valley Water Commission is a municipal entity, which employs over 175 people. It has more than 80 job classifications ranging from maintenance work at the reservoirs to water treatment and laboratory facilities and pipeline installation and associated  pressure regulation. The operational aspects are supported by a variety of technical and professional staff, including business, engineering and legal professions.

Compensation
Passaic Valley Water Commission compensation is geared to attract and retain highly qualified individuals. Pay and benefits are kept competitive.

New Jersey Department of Personnel
Passaic Valley Water Commission Employees are within the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Department of Personnel which regulates employment with State, County and Local government through a merit system. Employees of Passaic Valley Water Commission are subject to the rules and regulations of the New Jersey Department of Personnel.

Recruitment and Examination Certification and Appointment
Recruitment, selection, and promotion at Passaic Valley Water are based on New Jersey Department of   Personnel guidelines. Individuals with physical or mental disabilities are employed on the same terms and conditions as other applicants so long as they can perform the essential functions of the job being filled as provided through the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

As part of the post-offer process, successful applicants will be required to complete a physical examination which includes a drug screen and a thorough background check, verification of education and work references.

The appointment of all persons to Passaic Valley Water Commission shall be made and approved by official  action of the Commissioners only. The Executive Director shall carry out all of the decisions of the Commissioners.

Employment Application
All applicants for employment shall complete the Passaic Valley Water Commission employment application form as approved by the Commissioners-resumes are accepted in lieu of applications. Completed application forms should be forwarded to the Personnel Director.

Safety
Passaic Valley Water Commission makes every effort to provide employees with a safe place to work. PVWC monitors safety standards of Commission procedures and facilities. The  Commission makes available safety films and  seminars to all employees and complies with Federal, State and Local Safety Regulations.

In conformity with the "Worker and Community  Right-to-Know Act" the Commission maintains a complete file of "Material Safety Data Sheets" on potentially hazardous substances utilized on the premises. It is available to all employees from the Personnel Director.
