An Overview

Of all the world's natural resources, none is more indispensable than water. Without this precious commodity, life would disappear.

For over 75 years, Passaic Valley Water Commission has been dedicated to providing pure water to the citizens and industries of Northern New Jersey. Passaic Valley Water Commission has created, and is continually improving, one of the most innovative water treatment facilities in the area.
 
 
  Leadership

A seven-member Board of Commissioners is appointed by the Mayors of Clifton, Passaic and Paterson to staggered, four-year terms:

The Board of Commissioners is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of water to the cities of Clifton, Passaic, Paterson, Prospect Park and Lodi as well as communities in Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic Counties. Water is also furnished at wholesale rates to municipalities and water companies through water service contracts.

The Board of Commissioners appoints an Executive Director who is Chief Executive Officer of day-to-day operations:

The Board of Commissioners pledges to protect the quality of water and to assure the supply of this essential resource will meet consumer needs now and in the future. The Commission is determined to control pollution on the Passaic River and is a participant in the Partnership for Safe Water.

The main office building of Passaic Valley Water Commission is located at 1525 Main Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey, where the Board of Commissioners meets once a month to ensure sound financial practices in the maintenance of Passaic Valley Water Commission facilities are implemented.
 
 
  Organizational Chart

Passaic Valley Water Commission is administered by seven Board of Commissioners who are appointed to four-year terms by the Mayors of PVWC's three owner cities.

The Board is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of water to the cities of Clifton, Passaic, Paterson and the 24 communities and wholesale users it serves.

The Board of Commissioners appoints an Executive Director, Joseph A. Bella, who is Chief Executive Officer of day-to-day operations. Each Department Head reports to the Executive Director.
